Lucy Day, 72, of Lake Charles died on Monday, December 29, 2014 in her residence. Lucy was born on May 18, 1942 in Lake Charles where she lived all of her life and raised her family. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School. In her earlier years she worked for her in-laws at Day's Café. Lucy attended cosmetology school at Demon School of Beauty and then furthered her education to become an instructor. In 1984 she decided to retire to enjoy her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was a member of Oak Park Methodist Church. She was an active member of a group of wonderful ladies who often had lunch together and did many other activities including sewing. Lucy loved to garden and was a wonderful cook. She will be remembered for her eclectic personality, always artistic and creative. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 54 years, Wayne Day; two daughters, Pamela Day of Lafayette and Suzy Day Heitz and husband Kevin of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren, Kegan Courville and husband Casey of Duson, Quinn Fontenot and husband Nathan of Church Point, Keller Bertrand and fiancé Darian McCoy of Lake Charles, and Calli Comeaux of Savannah, GA; two great grandchildren, Devin Garrett of Duson and Khloe Fontenot of Church Point; and two great grandchildren on the way. She also leaves behind an abundance of nieces and nephews, especially Tim Surratt and partner Mike Holloman and their children, Nora and Tommy all of Houston, TX; as well as a special angel, Jennifer Harris of Moss Bluff. She was blessed to see her brother, Bob Reed and wife Cory of Edinburg, Tx. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
