Lurline David, 83, of Lake Charles died at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2015 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. David was born on June 2, 1931 in Abbeville, LA and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she spent many years as a catechism teacher and CCD volunteer. She and her husband served as a host family for foreign French teachers through the CODOFIL program, creating life-long friends throughout Canada, Belgium, and France for over 20 years. Mrs. David was a member of the Cajun French Club and LeClub des Acadian. She was an extensive traveler having visited places all over the United States, Europe, and Canada. Mrs. David will be remembered for her excellent cooking skills and welcoming hospitality. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years, Russell "Russ" David; a son, Bob "Bobby" Broussard; a daughter, Rosemarie David; daughter-in-law, Vickie Broussard; grandchildren, Michael Treadway, Bryan Dartez, and Angelique Law-Slichenmyer; and great grandchildren, Victoria and Emma Treadway, Bryce Dartez, Ali Law, and Lorden Broussard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Romain "Blackie" Hebert and Rosella Trahan Stevens; a son, Michael "Mike" Broussard; and a grandson, Shawn Broussard. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 8:00 AM and continue until the start of the service. The family wishes to express a special thank you to caregivers Tresa Leger and Lisa Franklin, Next door "angel", Sybil Richard, the nurses and therapists at Southern Home Health and Heart of Hospice.
