Lydia Jones

Lydia Ruth Cofer Jones, of Moss Bluff, LA, died at 2:02 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Jones was born in Crescent, OK on December 16, 1931 to Eugene Clark Cofer and Lula Hejna Cofer and lived in Moss Bluff for over fifty years. She worked at Selective Services, FmHA and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a past president of the Moss Bluff Chapter of ABWA and past President of the National Retired and Working Federal Employees (NARFE). Mrs. Jones was an active member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff and was a member of the LLL Senior Group. She loved to travel and had visited many places throughout the United States and the world. She also had a great love for her family and friends and was a great example for her family. She was loved and will be missed dearly.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her children, Laquita Gayle Jones of Jennings, LA, Jimmy Dell Jones and wife Maureen of Missouri City, TX, Robert Clark “Bob” Jones and wife Denise of Westlake, and Enid Dianne Daniels and husband John of Westlake, LA; sister, ZaSu Pickens of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Joseph Delmas Jones, Matthew Garrett Jones, Tanya Michelle Jones Broussard, Eric Wayne Jones, Lydia Christine Walker, and Johnny Thomas Daniels, II; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmas Jones; parents; five sisters; and one brother.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor James Rivers will officiate. Burial will follow in Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
