Lyle Everett Cook, 77, of Lake Charles, passed away on April 8, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1947, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Everett Guy Cook and Mary Blanche (Probst) Cook.
In search of warmer weather, Lyle made his way south to Louisiana, where he built a life filled with hard work, kindness, and love. He began a long and dedicated career with Conoco-Phillips, where he worked for 28 years, and later continued his work at Westlake Chemical for nearly two more decades.
One morning when Lyle stopped at the Coffee Cup Diner in Westlake. He realized he wasn't there just for the coffee-it was for Mary Morris. She opened the store each morning, and caught his attention. He returned every day for a week, and eventually, Mary saw that his visits were for her. They immediately had a connection, and on June 27, 2004, the two were married and shared 20 beautiful years together.
Lyle was truly one of the best men you could ever meet-a man of quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering kindness. Always willing to help others in any way he could, his gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. In his later years, Lyle took up woodworking, a hobby that became a serious passion. He made and gave away countless handmade creations, simply because it brought him joy to do so.
Lyle's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of compassion and goodwill will live on in the lives he touched.
Lyle is survived by his wife of twenty years Mary Clydelle (Morris) Cook; his children Theresa Turner, Susan Cook, Steven Cook (Debbie), Mary Cook, and Michael Cook; numerous grandchildren, his first born great grandchild Mason Jay Creel, and countless other great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
