Lynn A. Harris

July 19, 1927 — March 4, 2014

Lynn A Harris, 86, of Lake Charles died at 2:45 AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in his residence. Mr. Harris was born in Morris, NY on July 19, 1927 where he retired as a postmaster from the Morris Post Office. Mr. Harris was a member of the Butternut Valley Masonic Lodge #515, the Rotary Club, served on the school board, and was part of the Volunteer Fire Department in Morris, NY. In 1985 he moved to Dunedin, FL and worked for the Dunedin Recreation Department. He moved to Lake Charles in 1990 where he worked at Lowe's and Lake Charles Tackle. Mr. Harris served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of Zion Episcopal Church in Morris, NY and St. Michael's and Angel Episcopal Church in Lake Charles. Mr. Harris enjoyed fishing and working outside. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving, dedicated wife of 65 years, Louise F. Harris of Lake Charles; a daughter, Jody Lynn Harris of Livonia, NY; two sons, John Harris and wife Liz of Lake Charles and James Harris and wife Josie of New Albany, OH; six grandchildren, Chris Sturgeon and wife Liz, Jeremy Sturgeon and wife Ricki, Stephen Harris and wife Holly, Sarah Harris and friend Eric Martin, and Margaret and Hannah Harris; and three great grandchildren, Paige and Joshua Sturgeon and Luc Sturgeon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura Martha Aplin and Lynn John Harris; and a sister, Marion Ann Peterson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2014 in St. Michael's and All Angels Chapel. Father Peter Cook will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the start of the services.
