Mabel Lavergne

Mabel Lavergne, 95, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 9:50 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2016 in a local care facility.

Mrs. Lavergne was born September 10, 1920 in Church Point, LA, raised in Lewisburg, LA and has lived in Lake Charles for the past fifty-two years.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she enjoyed the water aerobic classes.  She also enjoyed playing card games, especially Booray, and she loved to spend time with her family. 

Mrs. Lavergne is survived by her daughters, Shirley Dupre and husband Martin of Lafayette, LA and Velma Soileau and husband Terry of Moss Bluff; son, Bobby Babineaux of Lake Charles, LA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitley Lavergne; three brothers; and two sisters.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Father Matthew Cormier will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
