Mabel Marie Ezernack

July 15, 1927 — December 26, 2014

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mabel Stemmann Ezernack, 87, of Lake Charles, announces her passing from this life into the loving arms of our heavenly Father, on December 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 PM, Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Scott DesOrmeaux will officiate. Father Joseph Stemmann will concelebrate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Sunday will be from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 9:00 AM until 12:45 PM in the funeral home. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Jerome Ezernack; parents, Ita Comeaux and Raoul Stemmann, Sr.; brother, Raoul Stemmann, Jr., and sister, Maydel S. Trainor. She is survived by her six children, Gerry and Kemble Guillory, Brenda and Andy McCain, Jerome and Darleen Ezernack and Arthur and Sandy Ezernack, all of Moss Bluff, LA; Dr. Wayne Ezernack of Katy, TX, and John and Carol Ezernack of Sulphur, LA. She also leaves her sisters, Nellie Dean of League City, TX and Marie Romain of Houston, TX; brothers, Father Joe Stemmann of New Iberia, LA, and Preston Stemmann of Alexandria, LA; ten grandchildren; Ewell and Camille Guillory, Melissa Hite, Brandon and Nathan McCain, Joshua, Chris, Mitchell, Madison and Colin Ezernack; and four great- grandchildren, Brooke Newton, Isaac, Tristan, and Maya Hite. Mabel was born July 15, 1927 in Cade, LA. She graduated in 1945 from Mount Carmel in New Iberia, LA. She married Francis J. Ezernack on November 23, 1950 at St. John's Cathedral in Lafayette, LA. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and V.I.C. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. She was a homemaker, spending most of her time in the kitchen where she loved cooking and baking. She treasured her time with her family, and was faithful to her Catholic faith. Her generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her! Our Lord has blessed us with her in our lives, for this we are truly thankful! The Family would like to thank the ICU staff at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital for the compassion they showed to our family. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
