Maisie B. Guidry

Maisie Guidry, 97, of Sulphur, passed away October 6, 2011 in a local nursing home. Maisie was born July 4, 1914 to Amelia Moss Breaux and Edgar Breaux in Rayne, La. She was descendant of John Jacob Ryan and great granddaughter of Joseph Valentine Moss who was one of the pioneer founders of Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parish. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10a.m. at Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Johnny Mounce officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss, LA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 6-8p.m. at Robison Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary at 7p.m. and will resume on Monday at 8a.m until time of service. Maisie was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Sulphur. After high school she attended nursing school then worked for St. Patrick Hospital for several years. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. A couple of years ago, there was a Breaux/Guidry Reunion in St. Martinsville. When it was found out that Aunt Maisie was not only the oldest Breaux, but also Guidry, in attendance, she was recognized before the entire crowd. She was as proud as a peacock and felt she had been named queen for the day. She was 95 at that time. Although she had no children she leaves behind 6 nieces, 2 nephews and a multitude of great and grand nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Able Guidry, her mother, Amelia Dugas and her sister, Emetile Breaux Palombo.
