Malcolm Dwight Richard

November 14, 1933 — June 2, 2016

Malcolm Dwight Richard, 82, of Lake Charles, LA died Thursday, June 2, 2016 in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.

 

Malcolm was born on November 14, 1933 in Branch, LA to Adam and Lillie Richard. He enjoyed cooking and catering for many years with various large functions in Southwest Louisiana. Some know him as “the Cotton Candy man” others know him as “the Pecan man” but to his friends and family he is affectionately known as “D”. He was a member of Glad Tidings Church of Lake Charles, LA for 44 years and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred Champagne Richard of Lake Charles, LA; four children, Billy Richard and wife K.D. of Panama City Beach, FL, Kayla Gilmore and husband Joe of Lake Charles, LA, Charlie Richard and wife Sandy Lake Charles, LA, and Carl Richard and wife Cindy of Savannah. GA; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one brother, Davis ‘ Shorty” Richard and Ernestine of Jennings, LA.

 

Malcolm is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, T.J. Richard and Lloyd Richard of Jennings; and one infant daughter, Kathy Richard.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA. Pastor Carl Richard will officiate services.
