Manson Albert Manuel, 80, of Lake Charles passed away, Friday, October 3, 2014. He was a native of Basile, LA and a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. Mr. Manuel was a loving father and grandfather, as well as being an outstanding musician. Manson was best known as the Wild Bayou Fiddler, with his band Manson Manuel and The Midnight Express and had many recordings of his own. Mr. Manuel was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Elaine Rushing Manuel; four sons, Robert Manuel and wife Danette, Marc Anthony Manuel, Marshall Manuel, and Jason Wayne Rushing and wife Kathryn; three daughters, Deborah Manuel, Angie Swiger and husband David, and Marcie Rome and husband Todd; fifteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter; his sister, Delcey Matthews. Manson is also survived by his lifelong friend, caretaker, and former wife Alyne Champagne. He is preceded in death by his two sons Marc Albert and Michael Manuel. His funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Bart Leger will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be, Sunday, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Celebration of Manson's Life at 6:00 PM, and continue Monday from 8:00 AM until time of services in the funeral home.
