Marcus Lafayette Ford, Jr., 93, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Ford was a kind, loving man who was easy and fun to be with. He served the Army Air Corps during World War II as a Pilot. He was well educated with Bachelor and Master degrees and a Specialist degree from North Western University, Ole Miss University, Louisiana College and McNeese State University. Mr. Ford was also an educator, having been a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and retired a Professor. For fun, he enjoyed flying, Ham Radio (K5IMQ), gardening, fishing and mechanics. There was nothing he couldn't do or try and was often referred to as "Mr. Fix It". Above all, he loved traveling with his wife. Countless trips to Florida and the West where they enjoyed rock hounding and collecting Indian artifacts. He was a 32nd degree Mason. His positive influence and gift of love will be forever cherished. Mr. Ford was much loved and will be dearly missed. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 45 years, Brenda Derouen Ford of Lake Charles; one daughter, Glenda Ford Jardell of Sulphur; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Margie Derouen and brother-in-law, Kenneth Derouen, both of Sulphur. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus L. and Pearl Braswell Ford and four sisters, Lavina Perry, Christina Maillet, Vera Hearn and Margie Heron. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation Wednesday will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and will continue Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service will be Kenneth Derouen, Danny Gentry, Ken Kirkwood, Perry Hollier, Butch Guidry and Dan Fruge.
