October 10, 1956 — January 2, 2016

Marcus “Mark” Allen Bertrand, 59, of Grand Lake, LA, left this world on Saturday, January 2, 2016, while doing what he loved, hunting.

Mr. Bertrand was born October 10, 1956 in Lake Charles, LA and lived in the Grand Lake Community for the past twenty-three years. He was a member of the first graduating class of 1976 from Barbe High School, where he played on the football team. He worked for PPG for the past thirty-six years, where he was the Shipping Day Lead and a first responder. Mr. Bertrand was previously a volunteer fireman and served as past Fire Chief in Grand Lake / Sweetlake. He was previously raised in the Catholic faith, but was currently a dedicated member of Eastwood Pentecostal Church. He was an avid hunter and a member of Old Hickory Creek Hunting Club. His true passion in life was for his family. Mr. Bertrand also enjoyed embracing his Cajun heritage and was an amazing cook. He could always be found teasing someone and was the life of the party; but he will be remembered mostly as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adelena and Burkman Bertrand.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Eastwood Pentecostal Church, 2501 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601. Pastor Aaron Lopez will officiate. As per his wishes, cremation will follow the service.
