Margaret Lyon Wentzell

Margaret Lyon Wentzell, 76, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, surrounded by her family. 
Born in Scotland, Margaret met a United States Navy serviceman, Chuck Wentzell, while he was stationed in Scotland. On December 3, 1963, the couple married in Scotland. In March 1964, she moved to Pennsylvania, where they were blessed with three children. Margaret received her United States citizenship in 1973. The family moved to Louisiana in 1974 and Margaret enrolled in the Nursing program at Sowela.  She earned her Licensed Practical Nursing certification and worked for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and Tri-Parish Home Health.  Her retirement years were dedicated to her family, she especially enjoyed helping raise her many grandchildren. 
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Charles “Chuck” Wentzell; three children, Scott Wentzell and wife, Angela of Sulphur, Allison Wentzell of England; and Jim Wentzell and wife, Cherie of Sulphur; eleven grandchildren, Mallary, Regan, Chase, Rider, Hannah, Andrew, Sarah, Irelynn, Armand, Abigail, and Eva; and six great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Nanci Hyatt and Alyson Wood both of Sulphur; and her brothers, Billy Lyon and Jim Lyon both of Scotland.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and James Lyon; brother, Joseph Lyon; sister, Janice Breaux, brother-in-law, Louis Breaux, and an infant granddaughter, Meagan Wentzell.
A Memorial service honoring Margaret’s life will be held at 4pm, Monday, June 5, 2023, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home. Rev. Marcus Wade will officiate. A gathering of friends and family will be held 1pm – 4pm on Monday prior to the memorial service. Margaret’s request was that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
