Margaret "Peggy" Laneve

February 12, 1935 — November 7, 2021

Margaret “Peggy” Louise Laneve was born on February 12, 1935 in Keyser, WV to the late Thomas and Leo Cora Collins.

She attended University of West Virginia receiving her B.S. in Music followed by Clarion University of Pennsylvania where she earned a master’s degree in education. Her husband Arthur Sr. was employed in Forestry, so she accompanied him to his many duty stations throughout the United States teaching music and elementary education until his retirement. Together they also owned an Antique Shop and enjoyed traveling to various shows selling and obtaining new pieces.

In 2003 she moved to the Lake Charles area to be close to family, especially her grandchildren whom she enjoyed spoiling often. She enjoyed traveling with them to Disney. In her down time she enjoyed reading, playing piano, listening to music; Mario Lanza being a favorite of hers. She also enjoyed spending many hours researching the genealogy of her family.

She was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, November 7, 2021 by her husband of fifty-five years, Arthur Laneve Sr.; her parents, Thomas and Leo Cora Collins; and two brothers, Thomas Collins and William Collins.

Those left to cherish her memory: her children, Beth (Bill) Joyner, Pamela (Thomas) Allison, Arthur (Joycelyn) Laneve Jr.; grandchildren, John Mark Laneve, Jeremy Lee Joyner, and Nathaniel Cole Joyner; two sisters in-love, Florence Meredith and Rose Orlando; and two close friends Pat Reece and Dolores Daigle.

The family will welcome friends beginning at 5pm on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at University Baptist Church. A Rosary to be prayed at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and led by Father Levi Thompson. She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Jenny Ruiz with Home Instead and Brighton Bridge Hospice for their dutiful and kind care.

In lieu of flowers the family invites you to make a donation in her name to: American Brain Foundation, Sisters of St. Joseph, or World Apostolate of FATIMA, USA.
