Margie Little Liechty, 85, of Lake Charles, LA died on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Born in Andalusia, Alabama to Charles Amos and Beulah Burkett Little, Mrs. Liechty moved to Lake Charles over fifty years ago. She was an active member of the VFW, Post 2130 and was faithful in her dedication to the members and mission of the post.
Mrs. Liechty is survived by her daughter, Dr. Rosalind Calvert Perez and her husband Frank Perez of Houston, TX; her son, Robert Eugene Calvert of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Thomas Edward Lively, Blaine Calvert Lively, Jeffery Calvert, Jason Calvert, Tracie Lawson, Tim Calvert, Shannon Benz, Cheryl Lewis; niece, Sandra Ward; many, many great grandchildren; and her close friends, Melba Stanfield, Pam Dibbley, Rosa Luquette, and all of her friends at the VFW.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Liechty and son, Ralph William Calvert.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and compassion given to their mother by the nursing staff on the eighth floor at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, especially "Jessica." Margie herself worked for decades as an Operating Room nurse at LCMH.
