Maria Carter

Maria Pollinger Carter, 84, of Topsy, LA, passed away peacefully at 2:13 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022 in her residence.

Mrs. Carter was born April 29, 1938 in Falkenberg, Germany to Josef and Theresia Schmidt Pollinger.  Things you might not know about Maria….She learned to speak English by watching “I Love Lucy”, her favorite color was red, her favorite flowers were geraniums and pansies, she liked to listen to Opera, Dean Martin and Celine Dion, she was a good bowler, she could crochet, cross stitch and knit.  She was an excellent seamstress, she had no middle name, when she was young, she had a goose and a goldfish as pets, she danced with Elvis, she was an extra in a movie, and she was ambidextrous.  She volunteered her time for numerous occasions and helped many people in her community.  She was proud to be a German.

She leaves behind her three children, Gregory Carter, John Wagner, and Theresa Jiminez (Jerry); grandchildren, Aubrey, Ashly, Austin, Brandi, Michael, and Kamryn; and great-grandchildren, Eli, Liam, Brice, and Kody.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost fifty years, William Franklin Carter; brothers, Josef and Manfred Pollinger; and great-grandchild, Jaxon.

Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  The family will host a private celebration of life at a later date.
