Marianne Margaret Richard, 80, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 7:30 AM on Sunday, August 26, 2018 in her residence.
Miss Richard was born September 28, 1937 in New Orleans, LA, where she was raised and graduated from Holy Angels Academy in New Orleans, LA. She entered the Marianites of the Holy Cross and received a BA degree from the Holy Angels College. Once she was professed, she took the name, Sister Mary Louis de Montfort and remained a nun for twenty-four years. After leaving the convent, she received her Master’s degree from McNeese State University and taught in the Calcasieu Parish and Catholic School systems until her retirement. She always talked so fondly of her years teaching first grade at Immaculate Conception Cathedral School (ICCS). After her retirement from teaching, she worked as the secretary of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral for seven years. Ms. Richard was a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters and the Serra Club.
Miss Richard is survived by her brother, Larry Richard of Jackson, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sydney and Margaret Richard; and a brother, Alan John Richard.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Rita Freeman, Mary Richard, Kim Jacobs, Priscilla Simon, Monica Freeman and Harbor Hospice for the care given.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Lake Charles. Monsignors Jace Eskind, Harry Greig, and Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
