JoAnn Aumiller

November 10, 1936 — February 4, 2025

Marie "JoAnn" Aumiller, lovingly known as "Baby Jo" or "Grammie," passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at Resthaven Nursing Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was born on November 10, 1936, to Ruby Richard and spent her life as an example of love, faith, and devotion.

JoAnn's deep Catholic faith guided her throughout her life, shaping her into the kind, compassionate, and steadfast woman so many were blessed to know. She graduated from Saint Charles Academy and carried her faith into every aspect of her life, finding great comfort and strength in her relationship with God.

A lover of the arts, JoAnn trained in dance for over 12 years and was a proud member of the Lake Charles Ballet Society. JoAnn and Jack were honored as Duke and Duchess of Krewe de la Noblesse, reflecting their love for life and community involvement. She was also an avid supporter of McNeese State University and loved cooking and tailgating for the Cowboys.

Above all, JoAnn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She never missed a moment of her family's lives, offering unwavering support and boundless love. She was also a true animal lover, always opening her heart and home to any animals that found their way to her.

JoAnn was married to the love of her life, Jack, for sixty-seven wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to deep love, friendship, and faith. Traveling in their RV and enjoying long road trips, JoAnn and Jack embraced life's adventures together. They spent only 67 days apart as Jack lovingly prepared a place for her in Heaven. Fittingly, JoAnn joined him just in time to celebrate his birthday by his side on February 6th. Now, they are joyfully reunited for eternity.

JoAnn is survived by her four devoted children: Brigitte Johnson (JJ), Gretchen Neville, Jack Richard Aumiller II (Michelle), and Courtney Doyle (Scott). She was the proud "Grammie" to her grandchildren: Alysia Davis (Chad), Jamie and Jeremy Johnson, Ivy Neville, Megan, and Jack Richard Aumiller III (Jackson), and Christian Doyle (Masha), John Scott, Chandler, Carrington, Harrison, and Hamilton Doyle. Her legacy also lives on in her seventeen great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and happiness.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby and her beloved husband, Jack.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Resthaven Nursing Home and Harbor Hospice for their exceptional care and love for "Mama Bear."

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM, Thursday, February 6, 2025 in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Msgr. Jace Eskind will serve as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a local organization supporting Alzheimer's research and care.
