Marie Kyle Griffin Lawson

Marie Kyle Griffin Lawson, 75, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016.

Ms. Lawson was born June 12, 1941 in DeRidder, LA and has lived in Lake Charles since 1977.  She was a graduate of Marion High School. Marie was previously married to Bill Lawson. Together they raised three sons while living abroad.  She worked for a local phone company, Chesson Oil and more recently at the Lake Charles American Press. Marie loved to play Bingo and could be found there on almost any given day.

Ms. Lawson is survived by her sons, Stephen Lawson of Lake Charles and Shawn Lawson and wife Kendra of Houston, TX; mother, Lillie Griffin of Lake Charles; brother, Nolan Ray Griffin of Lake Charles; the father of her children, William “Bill” Lawson of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Alexis Lawson of California and Andrew Lawson of Oklahoma; and nephew, Kevin Griffin of Lake Charles, LA; and aunt and uncle Jessie and Verlene Garcia of San Antonio, TX, and cousins Helen King of Monroe, LA and Vivian Ducot, Thibodaux, LA.

She was preceded in death by a son, Shane Lawson; and her father, Willie Griffin.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the start of the service.
