Marilyn Savoie Landry, 78, of Creole, LA died at 9:50 PM on Friday, March 29, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Landry was born February 3, 1935 in Creole, LA, where she has lived all of her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Altar Society. She, along with her husband, were the owners of Landry's Cafe for many years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and will always be remembered for her wonderful turtle stew. Mrs. Landry also enjoyed dancing and spending time with the Golden Girls (her group of friends). She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to taking care of her husband and family.
Mrs. Landry is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Gilbert L. Landry, Jr.; children, Kathleen A. Guthrie and husband William Earl Guthrie, Kirk H. Landry and wife Evelyn LeBlanc Landry, and Chris E. Landry and wife Janice Faulk Landry; grandchildren, Steven L. Landry and wife Christi Kay Landry, Kassie L. Boudreaux and husband J. R. Boudreaux, Christopher Chase Landry and wife Rachal B. Landry, Gordon L. Ladner and partner Jay Slemmer, Dawn S. LeBlanc and husband Michael LeBlanc, and Heather Miller and husband Mitch Miller; and great-grandchildren, Will Boudreaux, Ryann Landry, Dex Landry, Meg Boudreaux, and Hudson Landry. The family would also like to recognize Father Conner, adoptive grandson, Fr. McGrath and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Her funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, LA. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital 2 tower for the heart-felt care given as well as special thanks to Dr. Francis X. Bride.
