Marilyn Marie Weaver

August 17, 1950 — November 19, 2022

Mrs. Marilyn Marie Weaver, 72, of Ragley, Louisiana passed away November 19th, 2022, in the comfort of her home.

She was born in Church Point, Louisiana on August 17th, 1950, to Marius and Geneva Istre and was the eldest of four children. She graduated with honors from Westlake High School and attended McNeese State University. Marilyn spent her career working in executive assistant positions, including for the City of Westlake, the Calcasieu Parish Assessor’s office, and the Beauregard Police Jury prior to retiring in 2012.

Marilyn was married to her husband of 53 years, Rick, and had three sons. She was a long-time resident of Westlake before retiring to her home in Ragley, Louisiana. Marilyn always enjoyed sitting on their porch in the mornings watching the beauty of nature, while drinking coffee. She loved the peace of the outdoors and especially loved watching the hummingbirds that would frequent her home. Although never boastful, she took pride in her ability for solving things and particularly loved working crossword puzzles and playing along with the gameshow Jeopardy. Marilyn had a smile that would light up the room, especially when she was around her children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and welcomed new friends, as she was always selfless and put everyone else first. She was the kindest person you ever could have met and never expressed anger or contempt for others. Marilyn was a shining example of humility and patience for her sons and was always ready to provide love, comfort, and guidance for them throughout her life. She was also their greatest cheerleader, never uttering a discouraging word to them. Most importantly for her sons, when she put her arms around them to give them a hug, they could feel the warmth and love that filled her heart. These moments will be missed dearly. Marilyn was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deridder, Louisiana. She had also participated in the Ulster Project when her youngest son was a teenager and briefly served as Catholic Director and host for the Project.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Guy “Rick” Weaver, and her sons: Clay Weaver and his fiancé Sharla Fontenot, of Lacassine, Louisiana; Dr. Christopher Weaver and his wife Paige, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Cade Weaver and his fiancé Shawna Allen, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Irena, Brooke, Isla, Annistyn, Elliott, and Carson; and great-grandchild, Luke. She is also survived by her siblings: Mona Bricken and her husband Glenn, of the Woodlands, Texas; Mitch Istre and his wife Pam, of Lufkin, Texas; and Matt Istre and his wife Marlene, of Sulphur, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Marius and Geneva Istre.
