Marion Wynne "Butch" Fox, 74, departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 6, 2020.
A lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, Marion parlayed her thirst for knowledge, her abundant curiosity, her inclusive and loving spirit, and her profound passion for Jefferson Davis Parish and the State of Louisiana into making a genuine difference as the President/CEO of Jeff Davis Parish Economic Development and Tourist Commission and Chamber of Commerce. Prior to this position, which she referred to as her "dream job," Marion worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters (Jeff Davis Parish), the Louisiana Office of Tourism (Marketing Director), the Louisiana Office of Economic Development (Deputy Under Secretary for International Business Development) and the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau (Executive Director).
Family left to cherish memories of Marion are her children, daughter Anne Taber Klenke and husband Mike, son Ernest H. Taber, Jr. and wife Sheila and step-daughter Jill Bolen and husband Bill; the loves of her life, her grandchildren: Bryce Perkins, Lakyn Taber and boyfriend Sage Benoit (and great-grandson Ryker Benoit), Bayli Johnson and husband Hunter (and soon to be great-grandson Phoenix), "her twins" Emma and Sam Klenke, John Metoyer and wife Megan (and great-grandchildren Annabelle and Charlie), Kristina Boyce and husband Tyler (and great-grand dogs Titan and Theo) and Jacob Bolen; her brothers, Charles "Pookie" Fox and Glenda, and George Fox and wife Lynette; the father of her children, Ernest "Punkin" Taber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marion was welcomed into the arms of the eternal along with those who went before her, her parents, Doll and Harold Fox; her twin sister Martha "Tiny" Fox; and her beloved uncles, Leo Robertson and George Duncan.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation was entrusted to Ed Johnson and Johnson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family asks that donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (Marion was the head cheerleader for her daughter Anne during her successful ovarian cancer treatment earlier this year) or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana.
Marion's contributions will endure as a legacy to a life well-lived and a testament to how we can each bring about positive change in our communities and in the lives of everyone with whom we have contact.
