Marius C. "Day" Lormand, 85, of Moss Bluff passed away at 4:36 PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in a local hospital. Mr. Lormand was born on October 14, 1929 in Indian Village. He moved to the Lake Charles area in 1957. Mr. Lormand served in the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He retired as an ironworker and belonged to the Ironworkers Local Union 623. He was a dedicated member of the Apostolic Temple. He was involved in the building and remodeling of over forty churches including churches in the Philippines, as recent as at the age of 83. Mr. Lormand also supported missions around the world. He was a jack of all trades and will be remembered for his excellent cooking skills. Mr. Lormand enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Pearl Lormand; four children, Keith Lormand (Gayle) of Moss Bluff, Rita Hollowell (Bob) of Indian Village, Dearrah Buxton (Stephen) of San Diego, CA, and Karen Pound (Don) of Santa Fe, NM; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie and Alex Lormand; an infant son, Michael Kent Lormand; and four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9, 2015 in the Apostolic Temple, 2711 West Prien Lake Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605. The Rev. Ricky Treece will officiate. Burial will follow in Indian Village Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thurs in the church from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
