April 24, 1944 — July 16, 2013

Marjorie Elaine Tootsie Evans, 69, of Moss Bluff joined her loved ones in Heaven on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Surrounded by family and friends when she passed from this life to a better one, Tootsie's gentle spirit, kindness, and compassion will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Born on April 24, 1944 in Moorhead, MN, Tootsie moved to Westlake in 1965 where she married the love of her life, David Alan D.A. Evans. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Chateau Charles and enjoyed playing pokeno, garage sale-ing, and her bulldogs, Sugar and Elway. Tootsie particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who cherished their time spent with Maw Maw Evans.

Tootsie is survived by two brothers, Bill Bailey and James Bailey of Lake Charles; one daughter, Shellie Evans Benoit of Westlake; three sons, Troy David (Kathy) Evans, Chad Lamar (Tiffany) Evans, and Joel Craig Evans of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Vincent (Brandi) Wing, Chelsea, Remey, Drake, and Ali Grace Evans, and David Craig McClelland; and great grandchildren, Kary and Kady Blomquist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D.A. Evans; her parents, James Ray Bailey and Marjorie Welch Bailey; brother, Kenny Bailey; and an infant son, Raymond Edward Cooter.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Terry Ardizzone of Cross Roads Church in Moss Bluff, who prayed with and for her, will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens in Bel, LA. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.

Special thanks to Dr. Mohammad Khan, Christus St. Patrick Hospice, and to all who have offered their prayers, love, and support to Tootsie and her family. She will be truly missed by her Angels on earth as she lovingly called them.
