Marjorie "Margie" Maxine Goff Jeffers, 89, of Lake Charles died Thursday, June 21, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Jeffers was born and raised in St. Joseph, MO, lived twenty years in Seattle, WA and has lived sixty-seven years in Lake Charles. She was a Den mother for her boys Cub Scout Packs and score keeper and cheerleader for their baseball games. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, arts and crafts and working puzzles. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church. Mrs. Jeffers was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, taking great pride in her family. She will be most remembered for making fudge with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Gloria Manuel of Sulphur and Frances Langley and husband Mike of Ocean Springs, MS; four sons, William "Billy" Jeffers, Jr. of Bundick, George Jeffers and wife Karen of Lake Charles, Raymond Jeffers and wife Karen of St. Martinville and Dennis Jeffers of Reeves; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; one nephew, Gary Stackhouse of Seattle, WA and her "baby dog", Peaches.
She also leaves two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren "on the way".
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Holland Jeffers, Sr.; her parents, Harold and Venus Goff; one brother, Harold Lloyd Goff and one sister, Mildred Stackhouse.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Saturday in Branch Methodist Church Cemetery. Doctor Richard A. Baggett and Reverend Leldon Richard will officiate. Visitation Friday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
