Mrs. Marjorie O. McInnis Delaney, 90, formerly of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Woodland Village Nursing Center in Diamondhead, Mississippi. She was a native of Lake Charles and a 1941 graduate of Lake Charles High School where she was a founding member of the Kilties marching group. Mrs. Delaney was the first in her family to receive a college degree, being a 1943 graduate of McNeese Junior College now McNeese State University. After graduation, she worked at the Lake Charles Post Office where she met her husband, Bob. She left her work career behind in order to become a full-time mother, her greatest joy. She lived in Lake Charles for over sixty-five years prior to moving to Slidell, LA and then to Diamondhead, MS where she lived for the past eleven years. Mrs. Delaney was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles and when residing in Diamondhead, she was a member of Diamondhead Baptist Church. She had also been a member of the Diamondhead Newcomers Club. Most importantly, Mrs. Delaney will be remembered for her deep love of God and family. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Ackerman and husband Rodney of Diamondhead, MS, and Lisa Fontenot and husband Michael of Lafayette, LA; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and her sister, Anna Banister and husband Charles. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Robert Charles "Bob" Delaney; parents, William T. and Exa (Bailey) McInnis; and her brother Curtis M. McInnis. Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles. Reverend Bruce Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Samaritan's Purse.
