Mark Alan Piatt, 39, of Lake Charles, passed away Saturday, September 06, 2014 in the comfort of his home. Mark was a lifelong resident of the Lake Charles area and a graduate of St. Louis High School. He was an avid outdoorsman, as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cooking out with family and friends. He took great pride in his children and being actively involved in following their activities and functions. Their greatest times where spent traveling forty-five states in the past twelve years with hopes of traveling all fifty as a family. Mark was an adult leader for Boy Scout Troop 22 and a member of SWLA Soccer Club. He was the reigning King for Krewe de L'Possede. Mark served the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office for nineteen years, primarily as Captain in Corrections, his last years as Security Auditor. He was a negotiator with the CPSO Crisis Intervention Team where he trained and was the Chief Officer in Command of the robot used for bomb detection and hostage negotiations. He was also a Taser Instructor. He was a very humble, great asset to the department. Mark was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife, Lisa Veillon Piatt of Moss Bluff and their children, Bayleigh, Colby and Kassie. He also leaves four brothers, Ronald Dale Piatt, Jr. and wife Michelle, Eric Adam Piatt and wife Julaine and Wyndall Scott Piatt and wife Susan, all of Lake Charles and Gregory Joseph Piatt of Dallas, TX; one sister-in-law, Susie Piatt of Richmond, KY; Godmother, Betty Bruney of Lake Charles; many aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Lamar Cook of Moss Bluff and Liz Hoffpauir of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Dale Piatt, Sr. and Grace Marie Guillory Piatt and his Godfather, Gerald Bruney. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Theodore Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Scott DesOrmeaux will officiate. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America, calcasieubsa.org; National Eczema Association, nationaleczema.org; St. Margaret Catholic School Angel Fund, stmcs.com or LA Wives Behind the Badge, behindthebadgefoundation.org.
