Mark Robert Talbot, Sr.

Mark Robert Talbot Sr., 60, of Lake Charles passed away at 3:34pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family per his wishes.

Mark was born on April 10, 1960 in Lake Charles where he lived most of his life and was a graduate of Barbe High School. Electing to take summer classes, he graduated early to serve our country in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in San Diego and later in Naples, Italy.  Upon his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life in 1984.  While Mark worked many jobs, he worked as a flooring installer where he could express himself as a true artist and craftsman.  His family meant everything to him and he cherished each one of them dearly.  He often said, “I don’t do this for myself, I do it for my family.”  

Mark will be remembered as never meeting a stranger, for his sense of humor, and kindness.  Many would say that he was generous to a fault.  Mark spent time mastering his woodworking skills.  Prior to his passing, he made his own custom wooden urn with the help of his son.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Therese Talbot of Lake Charles; children, Kandy Moreno of California, Jennifer Talbot of Sulphur, Mark Talbot Jr. of Lake Charles, and Kateri (Peanut) Land (Ty) of New Mexico; siblings, Joan Brack (Gene) of Arkansas, Ernestine Booth (David) of Lake Charles, Benji Talbot (Elayne) of Lake Charles, David Talbot (Renee) of Sulphur, and Michael Talbot of Lake Charles; mother-in-law, Isidora Fuselier of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Benjamin Talbot, and his father-in-law, Albert Fuselier.

The family would like to express their thanks to Christus St. Patrick hospital, Heart of Hospice, Acadian Ambulance, and Johnson Funeral Home.

A memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at University Baptist Church.  The Rev. John Astling will officiate.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A gathering will begin in the church at 1:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 2:30 PM.
