Mark Shepherd, 58, was called home on March 15th, 2013, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Lake Charles, LA on June 22nd, 1954 to the late Nena Golden Shepherd and Herbert Benton Shepherd. He grew up in Oak Park and graduated from Lake Charles High in 1972. He attended McNeese State University until he opened Willow Creek Stereo in 1973 at the age of 19.
He was the owner of Bobcat of Lake Charles and Bobcat of Beaumont. He belonged to Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was generous and deeply faithful. He also had a fantastic sense of humor and a great laugh. One of his very favorite things was dinner with friends, especially if the meal was Mexican. He loved good music and played it loud. He was an avid model railroader, which all will agree was more than a hobby.
He is survived and cherished by: his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Hebert Shepherd; four children: Carrie Kudla and husband Jeff, Amy Prichard and husband Jimmy, Alan Shepherd and Sarah Shepherd. Eight grandchildren: Gabrielle, Tyler, Mia, Mykal, Ava, Leo, Emma and Knox; Gloria C. Hebert, Jackie Shepherd, and a beautiful abundance of brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews; his second family at Bobcat of Lake Charles and Beaumont, many dear friends, and his canine child and favorite train-chasing buddy, Ringo.
The Shepherd Family would like to thank Dr. Henry Goolsby as well as all of the nurses who cared for Mark at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital and Christus Hospice.
Mark Shepherd's life will be celebrated on Monday, March 18th at 10:00 A.M. with a Mass at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church, officiated by Monsignor Jace Eskind. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 17th from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
