Marlene Ann Hillebrandt

August 19, 1932 — April 2, 2016

 

Marlene Ann Fontenot Hillebrandt, 83, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, April 02, 2016 in a local hospital.

 

Mrs. Hillebrandt was born in Basile, raised as a young girl in Mamou and has lived nearly seventy five years in Lake Charles. She was a graduate and Kiltie of Lake Charles High School. She obtained a Bachelor degree in Education, Masters in Administration and her Plus 30 at McNeese State University. Mrs. Hillebrandt was one of three teachers selected to begin the gifted and talented SPARK program. She taught many years at S.J.Welsh Middle School and retired a Supervisor with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. She enjoyed needle work, quilting with her Quilting club and participating in Investment club. During her younger years she enjoyed exercise groups, water aerobics, gardening, bowling and playing cards. Her "good times" were most often shared with her Krewe de la Famille family as well as her sisters of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Her greatest times were shared traveling with her husband, family and friends. Mrs. Hillebrandt was an admirable woman to many who knew her, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be most remembered as a strong, spiritual mentor and for her love and devotion to her family and her faith. She was a Charter member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Daughters and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Mike Hillebrandt of Nacogdoches, TX, Doug Hillebrandt of Ragley, LA, Jeff Hillebrandt of San Antonio, TX and Joellen Gregory and husband Bill of Flower Mound, TX; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Fannetta Moore and Pauline Sarvaunt and husband Darrel of Lake Charles. She also leaves nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Jerry Hillebrandt; two grandchildren, Mikey and Christa Hillebrandt; parents, Fernest and Grace Fruge Fontenot and one sister, Brenda Manuel.

 

A Funeral Mass will be at 3:00 PM Monday, April 04, 2016 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 4:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM in the funeral home.
