Martiel Robinson Abrahams

June 25, 1927 — January 16, 2023

On Monday, January 16, 2023, Martiel Robinson Abrahams ran into the arms of Jesus, her savior and is now dancing with our daddy and rejoicing with family and friends in Heaven.

She was born June 25, 1927 in Jonesboro, Louisiana. The youngest of nine children born to Ray R. and Jessie Robinson. After graduating from Jonesboro High School, she moved to Lake Charles, where she met and later married Ralph Henry Abrahams in October of 1947. Together they raised six children and enjoyed thirty-six wonderful years together before he was called Home.

Of her many accomplishments in life her greatest one is the family she and Ralph raised. A pillar to her family, she set the tone of love and faith, ensuring her children were raised to know Jesus and to live selflessly. She volunteered her time with “Friend Ships” and traveled overseas on many missionary trips.

Toledo Bend was her home for over twenty years, before moving to Lake Charles to be closer to her children and family. Her travels never stopped however, as she continued to see the world, and she never missed an opportunity to out fish the best fisherman.

Martiel held many titles in the ninety-five years she spent on earth.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother "G.G.", and great great grandmother, and most affectionately known as “Mrs. Martie” and "The Roadrunner".

She was also welcomed into Heaven by her son Nolan Ray Abrahams; her parents, and her eight siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory; five children, Darell (Wanda) Abrahams, Cheryl (Dale) Labby, Deborah Stevens, Chris (Susan) Abrahams, Manda (Mitch) Andrus; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, with another great grand baby on the way.

In lieu of flowers, family invites you to donate in her honor to “The Hospice Promise Foundation” 901 Hugh Wallis Rd. S. Lafayette LA 70508. www.LHCgroup.com/foundation.

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed. Proverbs 31
