Marty Gene Wittmann

January 8, 1948 — December 5, 2021

Martin Gene Wittmann was born January 8, 1948, in Beaumont, TX to the late William Arthur and Alma Lois Wittmann.

He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and was called to service his country during the Vietnam War.  He enlisted into the United States Navy, serving overseas, until receiving an honorable discharge.

His father instilled to him the love of music, upon returning home he began working at Swicegood Music, he shared his love of music with others, even becoming a music tutor. He could play any instruments, but the guitar was his favorite. He was prolific to say the least, he played with many local bands, composed and wrote countless gospel songs.

Following his employment with Swicegood, he began working for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was employed for twenty-years, retiring as the Communications Supervisor. He then worked for the Lake Charles River Pilots at the Port of Lake Charles, serving as a chauffeur to those weary from navigating the waterways.

He was a member of “The Sanctuary Church” in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, where he shared his passion for his faith and music with his fellow parishioners. His family will best remember him by the kind nature he possessed, his laid-back demeanor, and his ability to tell a good joke, his wonderful BBQ, and love of Cajun food.

He was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, December 5, 2021, by his parents, William Arthur and Alma Lois Wittmann.
