Marvin Dale Fontenot, 53, Bell City, died Tuesday December 30, 2014 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Marvin was a life-long resident of the lake area. He was a modern day cowboy who enjoyed working cattle, breaking horses and living off of the land by hunting and fishing. He was a talented carpenter, who was always there to lend a helping hand. Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Allen Joseph Fontenot, Sr. and a grandson Logan Dale Fontenot. Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his sons, Charlie Fontenot and wife Kelly and Rocky Fontenot, all of Colorado; grandchildren, Miles, Nevaeh, Cheyenne, Callie, Jax, Dayton and Caitlyn Fontenot; mother and step-father, Geraldine Granger Fontenot and Ralph Elledge, Ragley; brothers, Allen J. Fontenot, Jr. and wife Vicki, Thomas E. Fontenot, and Gregory G. Fontenot, all of Lake Charles; sister, Rene Mudd and husband, Kevin, Bell City; step brothers, Ralph Elledge and Chris Elledge; trusted horse, Soda Pop, and best four legged friend, Bella, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Visitation will be on Saturday January 3, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Sunday January 4, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry McPherson officiating. Burial will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
