Dr. Marvin Dale Treece entered into the arms of His heavenly father from his residence in Calcasieu Parish Thursday morning April 14, 2011. He expired at the age of seventy-five.
Dr. Treece was born in Fulton, AR on October 5, 1935. He became a full time evangelist at age 14. He served in the capacities of senior pastor and bishop of Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church since 1960.
Pastor Treece was preceded in death by his parents: Mamie and Eleck Missouri Treece; his brothers: Leon, Herbert and Gene, and one sister: Thelma Bates.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Osborne Treece: one daughter, Paula Anderson and son-in-law Russell Anderson, and one son, Rev. Rick Treece and daughter-in-law Dianne Pourteau Treece; 3 grandchildren: Lauren Beckham and husband Curt, Lacey Treece, Jordan Treece Anderson; one great-grandchild Anderson Pierce Beckham; one brother, Rev. W.J. Treece and wife Louise of Beaumont Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews. A loving church family and many friends will honor and treasure his memory.
Bishop Treece, in addition to ministering to his local congregation was known throughout the years for his varied ministries. He was founding member of the Conqueror's Quartet (a gospel group that sang Southern Gospel music throughout the nation).
Many Camp Meetings, conferences and seminars were blessed by his teaching and preaching abilities. He served terms as Executive Presbyter of the United Pentecostal Church; Louisiana district Youth President; a Harvestime Radio Broadcast speaker; Ministers' defense council; internationally sought eschatology lecturer. He was the author of New Testament commentaries and was a student of paleography. His places of studies were Cambridge, Oxford and Manchester England and Trinity University in Ireland. He made contributions to the Library of Congress with translations of the Chester Beatty Manuscripts.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon April 17, 2011 from 4:00- 8:00 PM at Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church, 2711 West Prien Lake Road. The memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday evening, April 18, 2011 under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
There will be a Graveside service in Brazos Point Cemetery in Brazos Point, TX at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 20, 2011.
