Marvin L'Gene Harger, 92 of Sulphur passed away on September 2, 2014 in his residence. Marvin was born in Altus, AR and served in the U S Navy for 6 years as a cryptologist CT1. He worked as a charter boat captain for 10 years, a machinist at Cit-Con, and a salesman at Blake Building Materials in Carlyss. Marvin was president for C.L.E.A.N., he was an environmental activist lobbying for the organization in Baton Rouge. He was appointed by Gov. Edwin Edwards to the Emergency Response Commission. Marvin was the owner of the Safety Training Center in Sulphur. He was a member of Christ Worship Center in Sulphur. Marvin is survived by his 2 sons, Rev. Brian "Bo" Harger and wife, Mavis, and Mark Christian Harger all of Carlyss; 9 grandchildren, Keith Harger and wife, Lisa of KY, Shane Harger and wife, Lizeth of NM, Shawn Harger and wife, Natalie of FL, Christi Jensen and husband, Brian of FL, Jacob Harger and wife, Daneisha of LC, Joshua Harger of Sulphur, Leighanna Harger Welch of Sulphur, Andrew "Drew" Harger and wife, Rachelle of Sulphur and Madison Harger of Sulphur; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Glenn Harger of Largo, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darvin and Minnie Harger; wife, Maxine Clarice Blake Harger; 2 brothers, Ray and Harold Harger; 3 sister-in-laws, Norma Harger wife, of Harold Harger and Norma Harger wife of Glenn Harger and Agnes Harger wife of Ray Harger; and a granddaughter, Shannon Harger. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Brian "Bo" Harger officiating. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 2-9p.m. at the funeral home with visitation resuming on Friday at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
