Mary "Aline" Lebert

Mary Aline LeBert, 81, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 3:21 AM on Friday, July 1, 2016 in a local care facility.

 

Ms. LeBert was born December 1, 1934 in Marceaux, LA, raised in Kaplan and has lived in Lake Charles for the past sixty-five years. She worked at Abear / Royer Mobile Homes, Lake City Glass and retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a bus driver. During her younger years, she helped found the National Guardettes, who helped assist the spouses of newly deployed soldiers. She was also a notary public. Ms. LeBert was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and past member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Grand Lake. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, listening to music, sewing, cards and games and will always be remembered for her cooking. She had a gift from God, a heart of gold that people will never forget, and a love for her family that will live on in their hearts.

 

Ms. LeBert is survived by her daughters, Peggy Kern of Baltimore, MD and Erica Ferriss and husband Danny of Sulphur, LA; sisters, Annie Touchet of Kaplan, LA and Nunia Duhon of Abbeville, LA; grandchildren, Dr. Joseph Kern and wife Heather, Paul Kern and wife Lauren, Brandi Esthay and husband Jude, and Daniel Ferriss and wife Alayna; and eight great-grandchildren that were precious to her, Andrew, Elizabeth, Mikeala, Emmett, Haylie, Maddie, Miles and Peter.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Colomb and Francis Abshire; the father of her children, Douglas LeBert; and numerous brothers and sisters.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Very Reverend Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
