Mary Ann Bennerscheidt

Mary Ann Burk Bennerscheidt, 84, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 peacefully, in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Bennerscheidt was born in Columbia, LA, raised in Mississippi and has lived forty-five years in Lake Charles. She attained a Bachelor's degree in Education at Louisiana State University. Mrs. Bennerscheidt was an avid LSU fan and former member of the LSU Alumni Association. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served on the Altar Guild and was also a member of the Medical Auxiliary. Mrs. Bennersheidt found great joy in caring for her children and grandchildren. She will be most remembered for her love and devotion to family, friends and her beloved dogs. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Frederick Bennerscheidt and wife K.K. of Lake Charles; three daughters, Liza Bennerscheidt Guthrie and Mary Bennerscheidt Bell and husband Gus, of Lake Charles and Annie Bennerscheidt Smith and husband Duncan Jr. of Haughton, LA; nine grandchildren, LeLe Mericle, Fritz and Katie Bennerscheidt, Will and Mary Amanda Bell, Mary Ann Guthrie, Lee Ann Guthrie, and Duncan and Liza Jane Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick William Bennerscheidt, MD; parents, Thomas and Eliza Burk; one sister, Cornelia Samuel and two brothers, Thomas and William Burk. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Very Reverend John G. "Jack" Myers will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Wednesday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the church hall. Pallbearers for her service will be Bobby John Rayney, Jr., David L. Nolan, Will Nolan and her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ware, Lehrue Stevens, MD, Carol McCauley, MD, William B. Pharr, Richard Enright, MD and David R. Nolan.
