Mary Ann Costanza, 93, of Lake Charles died at 5:07 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2015 in a local care facility. Mrs. Costanza was born on February 8, 1922 in Hoover (near Birmingham), AL where she was raised. After graduating high school she was recruited to work at the Pentagon for two years because of her exceptional typing skills. She worked for LSU County Agriculture Extension Service for 15 years as a secretary in Franklin, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1968. Mrs. Costanza was a member of both Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. She was an active volunteer for the Newman Club and Our Lady Service Group. Mrs. Costanza was an associate with the Sisters of the Eucharistic Covenant Community. She will be remembered as being a very loving person who had a kind and generous heart. She leaves to honor and cherish her memories, one brother, Joe Chiarella of Hoover, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Joseph Giordana (20 years) and Charlie J. Costanza (36 years). A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Monday morning at 9:00 AM and continue until the start of the rosary at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Mary's request was for donations to be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel or St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
