Mary C. Hantz, 79, of Lake Charles, LA died Friday, November 14, 2014 in a local hospital. Mary C. Hantz was born on August 7, 1935 in Kaplan, LA to Duplex and Velta Cormier. She attended grade school in Kaplan until the seventh grade and graduated from Sulphur High School. She was a 1956 graduate of McNeese State University where she attained a Masters Degree in Special Education. She taught nine years at Oak Park School, fourteen years at Regina Caeli School, and eight years at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School. Mrs. Hantz enjoyed sewing, reading the bible, and praying. She also enjoyed bird watching. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Clyde Hantz, Jr.; one son, Jonathan Hantz and wife Pamela of Ragley, LA; one daughter, Mina and husband Jason Hawes of Moss Bluff, LA; five grandchildren, Skyler Hantz, Monet Broussard, Kaitlyn Hantz, Joshua Hantz and Amanda Hantz. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the funeral home.
