Mary Carrier

October 4, 1931 — July 1, 2017

Mary Amret Girlinghouse Carrier, 85, of Sulphur passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 after a brief illness.  Mary was born on October 4, 1931 in Jena, La. and lived most of her life in Sulphur.  She worked for Calcasieu Marine National Bank for 33 years.  After retiring from the bank she worked as a substitute teacher at LeBlanc Middle School for the last 22 years.  She was a member of Houston River Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her boys and grandchildren. 

Mary is lovingly remembered by her sons, Noah (Bo) Carrier, Jr. and wife, Dianne, Bill Carrier and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Nikki, Brandi, Tess, Jesse, Tiffany, Tabby and Tristan; nine great grandchildren; sister, Joann Putman; brothers, M.J. Girlinghouse, Melvin Girlinghouse and Ralph Girlinghouse; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Noah Carrier, Sr.; parents, Rodney and Bertha Girlinghouse; sisters, Elsie Young and Bernice Gibson; and brothers, Bud Girlinghouse and Johnny Girlinghouse. 

Funeral services for Mary will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 12 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur.  Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 5-8 PM and will resume on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 9 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houston River Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.  Pall bearers will be Matt Cart, Joshua Thomas, Johnathan Blume, Casey Stokes, Cole Stokes and Mark John.
