Mary Catherine Barnett

Mary Catherine Gaithe Barnett, 86, formerly of Lake Charles, LA died at 5:00 AM on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in her residence.

Born June 15, 1924 in Lake Arthur, LA, Mrs. Barnett was a 1941 graduate of Lake Arthur High School and lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles, LA before moving to Carencro a few years ago. She was a secretary for Judges LeStage and Arnett for a number of years. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and enjoyed antiquing. Mary will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed dearly.

Mrs. Barnett is survived by her daughter, Linda Richard and husband Lester of Carencro, LA; son, Jeff Barnett of Lake Charles, LA; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Barnett, Jr. and son, Randall Allen Barnett.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Dan Landry will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service, with a rosary at 12:00 PM.
