Mary Catherine Smith Savage

Mary Catherine Smith Savage, 86, of Lake Charles, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2016.

She was born November 16, 1929 in Dallas, TX to the late Charles and Hazel (Bishop) Smith. She worked for The Salvation Army and attended the Salvation Army Church. She also did charity work for the church.

Mrs. Savage is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Francis) Harper of Saline, LA and Margaret (Douglas) Smith of Moss Bluff; one son, James (Debbie) Savage of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Patricia Pridgen of Keithville, LA; brother, William (Dawn) Smith of Henderson, TX; sister-in-law, Gladys Smith of Shreveport, LA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. Savage; son, Ray A. Savage, Jr.; her parents; brother, Charles J. Smith, II; brother-in-law, Bobby Pridgen; and sister-in-law, Shirley Smith.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Lieutenant Richard Watts will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given by the doctors, nurses and staff of Harbor Hospice. We can’t say enough for the care she was give; God bless you all.
