Mary Modean Daugherty, 87, of Pasadena, TX, Passed away, Sunday morning on January 12, 2014. Mary Daugherty was born on May 26, 1926 in Shady Point, OK, to Mack and Iva Watson. Valedictorian of her class she graduated from Panama High School. She moved to California during the World War II as a "Rosie the Riveter". She worked for Comrolidated Aircraft in San Diego and the Richmond Shipyard in Oakland. She later earned her Nursing license and worked at Deaton West Branch and Spring Shadows Glen Hospitals. Following her beloved husbands Edwards stroke in 1996, she provided twenty- four hour care for him until his death in 2007. Seldom has greater love and care been shown. Mary is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Sibley of Pine Grove, LA; son, Bob Daugherty of Pearland, TX; four granddaughters, Drema Thompson and husband Kevin of Denham Springs, LA, Taiga Alexander and husband Kenny, Ashley Flippen of Walker, LA, and Deanna Daugherty of Ledyard, CT, great grandchildren, Joel and Carson Alexander of Lake Charles, LA and Nathan Thompson of Denham Springs, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Marvin and Leon Watson; and sisters, Maxine Adams and Emma Dean Watson. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 17, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday January 16, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Reverend Kelly Vigo will officiate services.
