Mary Davis Henry, age 86, of Cameron, LA died at 9:08 am, 22nd of June, 2016 at her home in Lake Charles, LA.
A descendant of prominent pioneer families (Meaux, Welch, Rutherford, and Wakefield) of Cameron Parish, LA, Mrs. Henry was born Mary Maye Davis on September 26, 1929 in Cameron, LA to James Austin and Martha Leila Meaux Davis. She was a lifelong resident of Cameron Parish, LA. A giving woman, Mary loved her family and surrounding herself with those she loved. She was in the process of recovering from a bone fracture. Her usual activities included visiting others, attending birthdays, reunions and other special occasions.
Mrs. Henry was a member of Wakefield Memorial United Methodist Church where she served on various committees, presently serving as Financial Secretary, Membership Chairmen, and on the Executive Board. She was a member of Thelma Hackett Chapter #225 OES of Cameron for over 50 years. She was a member of National Society Daughters of American Revolution, Robert E. Lee Chapter #305 United Daughters of the Confederacy, Feliciana Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames of the XVIIth Century, National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars, National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, The Sovereign Colonial Society, Americans of Royal Descent, Colonial Order of the Crown, Daughters of the Colonial Clergy, and Colonial Daughters of the Seventeenth Century.
Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her first born son, William Austin Henry; her husband, William Franklin Henry, Jr.; parents, James Austin and Martha Leila Meaux Davis; sister, Wilma Davis Bride; brothers, Lonnie Austin Davis and Furman James Davis; father and mother-in-law, W.F. Henry, Sr. and Allezina Marie Henry; her grandchildren, Sarah Ann Henry and Nicholas Paul Olivier; and a great-grandchild, Joel Morris Olivier.
Mrs. Henry is survived by her loving children, Edwin Scott Henry and wife Lisa Booth of Cameron, LA, Candace Olivier and husband Joe of Ragley, LA, and Gregory Henry and wife Mary Beth Austin of Ragley, LA; grandchildren, Mary Ellen Henry, Wesley Henry, Franklin Olivier and wife Kaylen, Adam Henry, Leila Henry LeJeune and husband Josh, John Henry and wife Tandi, Cara Lee Olivier, and Trinity Henry; great-grandchildren, her sweet precious hearts, Bret Alan, Abbie, Angel, Davis, Nathan, Leigha, Kaden, Maddie, Ella Rose, Jonah, William, Maryanna, Carrie-Helen, and Marie Elizabeth; and her Sister of her Heart, Mary Ann January.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Friday June 24, 2016 at the funeral home with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM Saturday until the time of service. Graveside committal services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at Wakefield United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cameron, LA.
Those serving as pallbearers will be: John Henry, Josh LeJeune, Adam Henry, Wesley Henry, Franklin Olivier, and Jimmy Kelly. Honorary pallbearers will be: Wendell Murphy, J.C. Murphy, Earl Tate, Barry Kelley, and James Burton.
