Mary Denise Grissom Nealy, 60, of Sulphur, Louisiana died at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in her residence. Mrs. Nealy was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana and has lived in Sulphur for the past 20 years. She was a 1972 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. She was a graduate of McNeese State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Masters Degree. Mrs. Nealy worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a teacher at Maplewood Elementary for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. She enjoyed painting and loved her family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Bridget Hill and husband Justin of Houston, TX, and Jessica Nealy of New Orleans, LA, two sons, Michael Nealy and wife Allyson of Rockville, MD, and Joseph Nealy of Detroit, MI, her mother, Mary Anne Ogea Grissom of Lake Charles, LA, three brothers, Father Joel Grissom of Brownsville, TX, Guy T. Grissom of New Orleans, LA, and Chad H. Grissom of Lake Charles, LA, two sisters, Madeline Birdsong of Galveston, TX, and Andree Grissom of Lake Charles, LA, eight grandchildren Aaron, Margaret, Julia and Mary Nealy, Elizabeth and Elias Hill, Kevin Rogers and Royce Strahan. Mrs. Nealy is preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Grissom of Big Lake, LA. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Joel R. Grissom will officiate. Burial will be in Sallier Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Monday at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
