Mary Elaine Crookshank

Mary Elaine Crookshank, 85, of Lake Charles, LA died at 7:55 PM on Sunday, January 13, 2013 in a local hospital.


Mrs. Crookshank was born December 13, 1927 in Staten Island, NY and has lived in Lake Charles for most of her adult life. She was a graduate of Holy Name Catholic High School and attended Louisiana State University. She worked hard helping her husband establish his medical practice in Lake Charles. A member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, she enjoyed bowling and was active with a number of recreational bowling leagues. Mrs. Crookshank also enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for her generous personality. The pride of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her special conversations with J. R. Jimmy Jones.


Mrs. Crookshank is survived by her children, Mary Crookshank Reinecke, John Paul Crookshank, Leisa Crookshank Henry, and Herbert Frank Crookshank and wife Vickie; brother, Dr. Charles L. Fellows and wife Grace; daughter-in-law, Drynda Crookshank; grandchildren, Mandy Bellow, B.J. Crookshank, Michelle Welch and husband Brian, Joshua Crookshank and wife Kayci, Jason Crookshank and wife Lindsey, Melissa Crookshank, Megan Reinecke-Dougherty, Colin Crookshank, Aleis Normand, and Kade Henry; great-grandchildren, Robyn Dupont, Ella, Evie, and Hudson Crookshank, Maryn Bellow, Luke and Lyle Crookshank, and Elliot and Scott Normand; along with numerous nieces.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. W. Bill Crookshank; parents, Dr. Frank Samuel Fellows and Clarice L. Fellows; brothers, John L. Fellows and Frank S. Fellows; son, Dr. J. W. Billy Crookshank, Jr.; granddaughter, Marcie Elaine Mudd; great-grandson, Dylan Bellow; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Booth Crookshank.


Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Whitney Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 AM to 12:40 PM.


Donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Southwest Louisiana Autism Society, and the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cornerstone Capital Campaign.
