Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Rivette Perello

Mary Elizabeth Perello passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 in a local assisted living facility.  She was born in Lake Charles on July 7, 1926 to Ervin and Nevada Rivette.  She graduated from LaGrange High School.  Mary Elizabeth lived all of her life in Lake Charles with her husband, George Perello.  She was a member of University United Methodist Church.  She owned and operated a cake shop for many, many years.  Everyone knew her as the “Cake  Lady,” or “Liz Perello’s Cakes.”  She also loved gardening and her cats.

She is survived by one brother, Ted Allen Rivette of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Beckie Davis (Don) and Debbie Curlee (Charles), all of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Jody Elizabeth (Jody David) Pelloquin of Lake Charles; Zacharia Marcantel (Ashley) of Sulphur; Kerri Fontenot (Corey) of Lake Charles; five great grandchildren, Zachary and Aubree Marcantel of Sulphur; Mya and Cora Pelloquin of Lake Charles and Shepherd Fontenot of Lake Charles.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Perello; her parents; her brother, Ervin Rivette, Jr; and her sister, Peggy Jones.

Her funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  Rev. John Robert Black will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sage Oak of Lake Charles for their compassionate and excellent care they gave to our mother.  Also, we would like to thank Amedisys Home Health, especially Stephanie Simon.
