Mary Elizabeth Phillips, 90 passed away on April 12, 2013 in a local nursing home. Mary was very outgoing, loved people, and had a passion for her children and her family. Mary had many humming bird feeders and loved watching the birds buzz about outside her kitchen window. She loved to bake her blackberry cobblers and pecan pies which were highlighted in the Lake Charles American Press. She and her husband, in their seventies, bought and sailed in their 44 sailboat named Gator Girl from Florida to Hackberry. Mary also had a green thumb raising vegetables and flowers in her green house. Mary is survived by her daughter, Frances Kaough of Lake Charles; son, William E. Phillips and wife, Laquita of Baton Rouge; grandsons, Chris White, Dylan A. Phillips and Ian E. Phillips; grand-daughter, Jaclyn Klaperich; great grand-daughters, Ashley White, and Sofia M. Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Phillips; parents, William and Elma Gross; and sister, Elma Marie Moore. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Shirley officiating.
