Mary Ethel Mcdaniel

August 27, 1932 — December 11, 2020

Mary Ethel McDaniel, 88, of Lake Charles, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 in a local hospital.  Mrs. McDaniel was born and raised in Eunice, spent most of her younger years in Mamou and most of her adult life in Lake Charles.  She took great pride in taking care her family and enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and making doll clothes for her grandchildren. Following the loss of her husband, Mrs. McDaniel began working as a door greater at Walmart where she has worked the past twenty years.  She loved everything about her job at Walmart.  Mrs. McDaniel will be most remembered for instilling the importance of faith, prayer and unity in within her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Carl Joseph McDaniel and wife Connie of Lake Charles; one daughter, Annette Marie McDaniel Fruge and husband Darrell of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Shawn Lawrence Fruge and Jessica McDaniel Dyer and husband Kris, both of Lake Charles; three great grandchildren, Madison Marie Fruge, Kennedy Marie Dyer and Kameron Michael Dyer; many nieces and nephews and her extended family and friends at Walmart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Sunny” McDaniel; bother Herbert LeJeune and a sister, Pearl Manuel.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Reverend Marcus Wade will officiate.  Interment will follow.  Visitation Tuesday will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at University Baptist Church. 

In accordance with state regulations, attendees for visitation and services are respectfully required to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

Memorial donations may be made to Louisiana Lung Association at lung.org or the Louisiana Heart Association at heart.org.
