Mary Evelyn Canter Stewart

Mary Evelyn Canter Stewart was born on December 27, 1949, in Lake Charles, LA. to Jesse and Evelyn Canter.

She lived most of her life in Lake Charles, LA, where she also raised her family with her beloved husband Andrew Stewart Jr. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She adored sewing, cooking, fishing, and most of all babysitting. She had a heart of gold for children.

Mary passed away in Lake Charles, LA on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the age of seventy-three surrounded by the ones she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Jesse Clifton Canter Jr, and one sister; Gail Ellen Canter Manuel.

Those left to cherish her memory are her, loving husband of 55 years Andrew Joseph Stewart Jr one daughter Tenita Marie (Stewart)Bertrand, 3 granddaughters Kacy Lynn (Bertrand) Diaz and husband Jonny, Jessi Rae (Bertrand) Bowling, and Kristie Jade (Bertrand) Galeano and husband Edgar, 9 great grandchildren, Coltin Smith, Athena Biddy, Ella Diaz, Sofia Bertrand, Wendy Bowling, Alice Smith, Johanna Diaz, Michael Diaz, and Leonardo Galeano.  5 brother James Canter and wife Shirley of Lake Charles, Paul Canter of Lake Charles, Michael Canter and wife (Jodi) of Magnolia Tx. Tony Canter of Lake Charles, and Jody Canter and wife (Debbie) of Lake Charles.

With respect to her wishes, services will be Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 4:00PM in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
